McKendree University has established the Emergency Response Fund to support unexpected expenses due to the challenging circumstances of the global outbreak of COVID-19. The time to come together is right now. You are vital to our ability to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic quickly and adapt to meet the changing needs of our students, faculty and staff. Gifts of any size help to give us the tools to remain flexible and serve our mission during this time.
Examples of How the Emergency Response Fund Will Be Used:
- Financial aid for our most vulnerable students and staff;
- New technology for online classes and staff that are telecommuting;
- Health and counseling services that remain available to students;
- and support for essential staff that remain on campus to serve our students.

The new CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act offers a new tax incentive that may affect you and your charitable goals. For those who take the standard deduction, the Act allows taxpayers to claim an additional charitable deduction of up to $300, or $600 for married couples, for cash donations made to a qualified charity. For those who do itemize their deductions, the new law allows for cash contributions to qualified charities such as McKendree University to be deducted up to 100% of your adjusted gross income for the 2020 calendar year.
